Purpose
The purpose of the IAP Seed Grants is to provide funding to researchers in the field of Pancreatology (and related areas) to undertake research that may lead to future bigger grants. The Seed Grant may be used for a pilot or larger study or the secondary analysis of data from existing large databases. The grant funds are intended primarily to support data abstraction, statistical analyses, reagent or equipment costs, but salaries may be included if appropriate and necessary to complete the project.

Grants
In 2024, the IAP will fund two grants of US$25,000 each (one each for Basic Science and Clinical Science) for early-to-mid career Principal Investigators who are within eight years of PhD or highest GI related clinical degree equivalent (MD, MRCP, FRCP, FRACP etc). The research is to be completed within twelve months of receiving funding with a final report due one month after completion. The applications will be considered by a subcommittee appointed by the IAP Council.

Eligibility
The application should be submitted via the IAP website by an IAP member who will be the Principal Investigator.
The Principal Investigator is required to:

  • be a current IAP member;
  • remain a financial IAP member until the project is completed and the final report has been received;
  • have a position at, and approval from, an appropriate institution for the proposed research;
  • attend in person (as far as possible) and present the research findings in an IAP conference following the grant award year.

 

Application process
Please submit your application adhering to the following format:
1) 3 page limit (including references); A4 pages, 12 pt font, 2 cm margins
2) Briefly cover these sections in the following order:
– Project title
– Investigator Team (Principal Investigator and potential Co-Investigators)
– Background/rationale
– Study originality/innovation
– Project aims/methodology
– Expected outcomes/significance/impact
– Budget request details

3) A separate two page CV (only for PI)

The application will be assessed on the basis of
• Innovation
• Scientific Merit
• Feasibility and Impact
• Track Record relevant to stage of career
