Scientific Committee and Scientific Advisory Board

Terms of Reference

The aim of the Scientific Committee and Scientific Advisory Board are to promote multinational studies under the auspices of IAP.

Scientific Committee

  • Oversee the membership of the Scientific Advisory Board in consultation with the IAP Council
  • Call for proposals for multinational projects to be conducted under the auspices of the IAP
  • Seek comment on submitted research protocols from appropriate members of the Scientific Advisory Committee
  • Make recommendations to Council in terms of studies to be promoted to the broader IAP membership
  • Recommendations should be made within six (6) weeks of receipt of the project details
  • Monitor progress of projects to ensure that research is conducted in accordance with the endorsed protocol

Scientific Advisory Board

  • Utilise networks within their region to encourage proposals for multinational studies to be conducted under the auspices of the IAP
  • Provide critical review of research protocols including review of feasibility, relevance and sustainability when requested by the Scientific Committee
  • Comments should be received no later than three (3) weeks from the request of the Scientific Committee

Committee

The Scientific Committee will consist of the Past President, the President, the President-Elect, the Secretary, the Treasurer, the Editor-in-Chief of Pancreatology and five (5) ordinary members of the Scientific Advisory Board as nominated by the IAP Executive. The Committee should consist of members from medical, surgical and basic science backgrounds.  Ordinary members will serve for  on the Advisory Board a term of 4 years subject to performance review by the IAP Executive.

Advisory Board

The Advisory Board will consist of 20 members determined by the IAP Council. The members will be nominated by the IAP council from amongst  the IAP members. Members will serve for a 3-year term with the possibility of a three-year extension subject to performance review by the IAP Council.

The Committee reports to IAP Council.
