Purpose
The purpose of the IAP Seed Grants is to provide funding to researchers in the field of Pancreatology (and related areas) to undertake research that may lead to future bigger grants. The Seed Grant may be used for a pilot or larger study or the secondary analysis of data from existing large databases. The grant funds are intended primarily to support data abstraction, statistical analyses, reagent or equipment costs, but salaries may be included if appropriate and necessary to complete the project.
Grants
In 2024, the IAP will fund two grants of US$25,000 each (one each for Basic Science and Clinical Science) for early-to-mid career Principal Investigators who are within eight years of PhD or highest GI related clinical degree equivalent (MD, MRCP, FRCP, FRACP etc). The research is to be completed within twelve months of receiving funding with a final report due one month after completion. The applications will be considered by a subcommittee appointed by the IAP Council.
Eligibility
The application should be submitted via email to apply@internationalpancreatology.org by an IAP member who will be the Principal Investigator. An IAP member who has a position at, and approval from, an appropriate institution for the proposed research is eligible to submit the application. Furthermore, any IAP members pursuing advanced GI fellowship (after completing their basic GI fellowship) can also apply provided that they will stay for at least one year at the host institution where they are currently working to complete the proposed project and have a senior mentor to guide them.

Please submit your application adhering to the following format:
1) 3 page limit (including references); A4 pages, 12 pt font, 2 cm margins
2) Briefly cover these sections in the following order:
– Project title
– Investigator Team (Principal Investigator and potential Co-Investigators)
– Background/rationale
– Study originality/innovation
– Project aims/methodology
– Expected outcomes/significance/impact
– Budget request details
3) A separate two page CV (only for PI)
The application will be assessed on the basis of
• Innovation
• Scientific Merit
• Feasibility and Impact
• Track Record relevant to stage of career

The IAP reserves the right to not award grants if applications do not meet required scientific standards.
